    Cognitive Behavioral
    Therapy for Insomnia

An estimated 40 million Americans cope with insomnia each year. Chronic Insomnia can have a negative impact on your health and lower your quality of life. Effective treatment is crucial to getting the sleep needed.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is recommended as the first line of treatment. CBT-I is a structured program that helps an individual identify/replace thoughts and behaviors that cause or worsen sleep problem with habits that promote sound sleep. Unlike pharmaceutical interventions, CBT-I addresses the underlying causes of insomnia rather than simply relieving symptoms.

The CBT-I program at Advantage can help develop good sleep habits and avoid behaviors that keep a person from sleeping well. The program includes assessment, behavioral and cognitive interventions, motivational techniques, and relapse prevention skills.
